During this unusual time, I am full of fear and anxiety. And I am exploring a new style in photography that could express these uncomfortable thoughts. Photographs that still maintains the distance because of the virus, and this is a challenge to my usual style. My style that doesn’t only capture people’s portraits closely, but also allows me to befriend them and talk with strangers. Now, I speak to no one I spend day and night on my own I have walks solely. And as I used to always do, photography was my only way of expression. This time expressing uncomfortableness and loneliness.
Few weeks after my arrival to Germany to study, the Covid-19 happened locking down almost everything. It’s not easy to be alone nowadays, I miss my family, my friends, I’m worried all the time, a little bit depressed about all what’s happening, and the only thing that helps is to take pictures about what’s going on during such unprecedented time. I am thankful for everyone who’s trying to help me get through this, and I’m very thankful for photography. This project in ongoing, I will be regularly updating it with more pictures as I try to survive these times through photography.
My camera, which is also my only company now, decided to break a little inside so it can make the pictures look like the ones I used to see in my dreams. As I recently been attempting to explore styles in photography, I played around with double exposure when I photographed some of them.
My camera is a little break inside, just like myself. Pictures it creates are a better resemblance of my reality.
